A Seattle family that ignored a neighbor’s lawsuit is now facing a $500,000 default judgment for alleged emotional distress caused by their barking dog.

The suit filed by Woodrow Thompson, claimed the dog has a problem with “raucously, wildly bellowing, howling and explosively barking,” KOMO News reports.

Dog owner Denise Norton said she thought the suit was likely bogus, so she didn’t respond. She is now fighting the judgment after the sheriff attached papers to her garage warning that her home would be sold to pay the judgment.

The complaint suggested that the dog, named Cawper, barked so loud it would register 128 decibels through double-pane windows.
