FBI is ‘Tearing Apart’ Pa. Lawyer’s Office, His Counsel Says

The FBI raided a Pennsylvania lawyer's office today, reportedly looking for records related to allegations that John Karoly defrauded an Allentown charity of $500,000.

Agents are "tearing apart his office looking for the original records," attorney Robert Goldman, who represents the South Whitehall Township attorney, tells the Express-Times.

Meanwhile, Goldman contends the original Urban Wilderness Foundation records have been in his own Doylestown, Pa., law office, for safekeeping. As he stood outside Karoly's office, holding the records he said the FBI was seeking, agents searched inside Karoly's office this morning, the Lehigh Valley newspaper reports.

Karoly and his lawyer have contended that the case is politically motivated, according to the Associated Press and other media reports.

Lucky bastard.  I have to tear apart my own office looking for original records.  How does he rate federal assistance?

I have a solution for you B. McLeod…expand your unauthorized practice of law beyond pretending to have a JD on this message board, take a federal case under your “pseud” and they’ll be more than willing to turn over every milk crate of newspaper clippings (oops, client files) you have.

No, I think they would just look at my current federal registration card (good ‘til June 30) and tell me to do my own work.

Federal registration card? Is that anything like an ACTUAL license to practice law? (states regulate their OWN bar membership and grant said license to successful candidates)

Did you get that in your Happy Meal with the Grimace cookies?

It speaks volumes for any poster to not know what a federal registration card is.  I have one.  “Barrister” does not know what one is.  Case closed.
