The Food and Drug Administration today released proposed new regulations concerning calorie counts that chain restaurants nationwide will be required to list for their menu items under a new health care law enacted last year.

Convenience stores, supermarkets and vending machine owners also will be required to comply with the new regulations, according to Reuters and the Washington Post.

However, movie theater owners successfully lobbied for an exemption.

An FDA web page provides more details, including links to the proposed regulations and information about how to comment on them.
