Federal Jury Convicts Ex-Ohio Judge of 10 Counts of Lying to FBI Agents About Case-Related Confabs
A former Ohio judge was convicted by a federal jury today of 10 counts of lying to agents of the FBI about conversations she had with people concerning their pending cases in her court.
Onetime Cuyahoga County Judge Bridget McCafferty did not testify. Her lawyer, however, contended that she had not intentionally lied to FBI agents in 2008 when they questioned her about these discussions, reports the Plain Dealer.
McCafferty was caught on tape in confabs with then-county officials targeted in corruption probes.
Her counsel plans to appeal the verdict, which came the same day as closing arguments, reports WEWS Newsnet5.
