Federal Prosecutor Gets ‘Job of a Lifetime’ at International Criminal Court
A Brooklyn federal prosecutor is taking his career to an international level.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Jack Smith will be supervising the investigation of defendants accused of genocide and war crimes for the International Criminal Court, the New York Daily News reports. The publication said the new venture could be called “Mr. Smith goes to The Hague,” and concluded that Smith is well-suited for the role.
“He’s as self-effacing and determined as a Jimmy Stewart character in a Frank Capra film,” the newspaper says.
Smith is excited about the opportunity. “This is a job of a lifetime,” he told the Daily News. “It’s not a steppingstone. It’s the job I’ve always wanted. It’s really neat to be involved in the formative years of a historic court body.”
