Feds raid family law firm linked to both slain woman and attorney accused of bomb threat
Federal agents raided a Cleveland family law firm office on Tuesday, an FBI spokesperson told the Northeast Ohio Media Group.
According to the article, officials would not say if the raid was related to the March 2013 stabbing death of Aliza Sherman, a divorce client who was attacked outside near Stafford & Stafford’s downtown office, or a July 2012 courthouse bomb threat that allegedly came from Gregory Moore, who at one point was an associate at the firm.
Moore represented Sherman, but is no longer listed on the website of the firm, which now calls itself Stafford Law Co. In December, he was indicted for calling in a bomb threat to the Cuyahoga County courthouse. He was charged with three counts of inducing panic. Moore’s lawyer has denied the charges against his client.
No suspect has been identified in Sherman’s death. According to the Northeast Ohio Media Group, she was at the law firm to meet with Moore when she was killed.
The Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s office asked for the search, the article states. It included sheriff’s deputies and Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation agents. In March, law enforcement told the news group that some people were not cooperating with Sherman’s death investigation.
“There are some individuals who homicide detectives would like to speak with,” Sgt. Ali Pillow said. “But those individuals are not willing to cooperate and speak with police.”
Stafford & Stafford’s office is at the Erieview Plaza, according to the article. Police reportedly have grainy surveillance camera footage that shows someone running outside the structure shortly after Sherman’s slaying.
