Crim Defense Colleagues Throw Going Away Party for Mickey Sherman, Headed to Club Fed
Michael “Mickey” Sherman isn’t complaining.
The 64-year-old Connecticut criminal defense attorney did the crime, and now he’ll have to do the time—a year and a day—for failing to pay his federal income tax.
“I didn’t get railroaded. I made a mistake. I never groused about paying the price,” he tells the Stamford Advocate. “I do believe that lawyers should be held to a higher standard.”
But colleagues in the defense bar who were among those throwing a going-away party for Sherman at a Greenwich bar last night wanted him to know that they feel bad about the sentence and will miss a respected local lawyer.
“We all feel bad that we are seeing one of our brother attorneys have to do some jail time,” says Howard Ehring, a senior assistant public defender in Stamford.
