Financier Sues 2 LA Law Firms for $100M, Says They Abetted In-House Counsel's Breach of Duty
An entertainment industry financier has sued two well-known Los Angeles law firms, contending that they aided and abetted an alleged breach of fiduciary duty by his former in-house counsel.
In a lawsuit (PDF) filed Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court, plaintiff David Bergstein contends that his then-counsel, Susan Tregub provided confidential information to Stroock & Stroock & Lavan and Levene Neale Bender Yoo & Bril while still working for him, according to Deadline Hollywood and the Hollywood Reporter blog Hollywood, Esq..
That information was used to Bergstein’s detriment, the suit contends. Among other examples, it cites “a litigation assault against Bergstein and his affiliated entities on behalf of David Molner and Aramid Entertainment Fund Limited.“
Bergstein is represented by Alex Weingarten of Weingarten Brown.
The articles don’t include any comment from the defendants, who haven’t yet responded to requests from the entertainment publications.
