A fired female intellectual property partner has settled her federal employment discrimination suit against Ropes & Gray on undisclosed terms.

Patricia Martone, who was 63 when she was fired by the firm in 2010, lost out on lucrative retirement benefits to which she would have been entitled at age 65 as a result, Reuters reports. She contended her dismissal was due to age and gender discrimination; the firm cited “legitimate business decisions.”

At a federal court hearing in Manhattan in March, the judge had urged the parties to settle the case.

“This matter has been settled. Ropes & Gray wishes Pat Martone well,” the law firm said in a statement provided to the news agency.

Attorney Anne Vladeck represented Martone. She didn’t respond a request for comment by Reuters.
