After earlier cost-cutting measures, a well-known intellectual property boutique now plans to eliminate its corporate practice group by Jan. 1, 2010.
"Fish & Richardson has decided to discontinue our corporate group as a separate practice group entity in the firm, effective at the end of the year," the firm said in a written statement e-mailed to the ABA Journal.
"As a result, a number of our corporate colleagues will leave the firm by the end of 2009. We have asked a small number of corporate attorneys based in the Northeast with practices that leverage our IP expertise and strength to stay with the firm."
The firm didn't give any estimate of the number of attorneys that may be affected.
