A Maryland judge who let the air out of the tires of a car belonging to a courthouse worker has been suspended without pay for five days.

Maryland’s highest court signed the suspension order on Wednesday, according to the Washington Post blog The Crime Scene and the Baltimore Sun. The conduct of Judge Robert Nalley of Charles County “raised a serious safety issue by potentially endangering the life of the driver of the auto, who might have driven the auto without realizing the tire was flat,” the court said.

Nalley has said he acted because someone was repeatedly parking in a restricted area near the courthouse. He pleaded guilty in October to tampering with a motor vehicle and told the court he was “profoundly sorry” for his conduct.
