Former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales will take over as dean of the law school at Belmont University on June 1.

Gonzales takes the place of Jeff Kinsler, who will become a full-time faculty member, according to the Tennessean and a press release. Kinsler was founding dean of the law school, which opened three years ago in Nashville and received provisional ABA accreditation last year.

Gonzales has taught classes at the law school in constitutional law, separation of powers, national security law and First Amendment law. He joined the faculty in early 2012 after teaching a political science course at Texas Tech University. Gonzales found it difficult to secure employment with a law firm after his controversial tenure as attorney general. In Nashville, however, he had an of counsel position at the Waller law firm while teaching at Belmont, the Tennessean says.
