Former Bookkeeper Gets 10 Years for Stealing $9M from Law Firm
A former bookkeeper for a California personal injury firm was sentenced last month to a 10-year prison term for stealing $9 million from Bostwick Peterson & Mitchell over roughly a nine-year period.
Richard Thomas was also ordered to pay restitution of $8.7 million, reports the Recorder.
Partner James Bostwick tells the legal publication that the San Francisco-based firm first questioned Thomas’ handling of its funds in 2005, after he acted suspiciously during an audit.
