Former GC for Teamsters Local Gets Prison Time in $184K Expense Reimbursement Scheme
A former general counsel for a Teamsters local has been sentenced to prison time for a $184,000 expense-reimbursement scheme.
Kevin Clor, 40, was given a term of between 32 months and eight years Wednesday by a Manhattan Supreme Court judge after pleading guilty in June to 34 counts of grand larceny, possessing forged documents and falsifying business records, Reuters reports.
His lawyer, Jeremy Saland, had argued for a lighter sentence, asking the judge to consider that Clor’s autistic son needs expensive care, which at least some of the money was used for. “This was not somebody in any way who was living a life of luxury,” Saland said.
Prosecutors said Clor turned in some 150 fake receipts to New York State Thruway Employees Local 72 between 2006 and 2011, most of which were for claimed continuing legal education and written legal materials.
Clor must also make restitution for $160,000, in addition to the $30,000 or so he has already paid back.
He had represented the local since 2001.
