The former chief financial officer of a Florida law school has been arrested and charged with felony grand theft.

John LaTorre, 56, is accused of using a work credit card issued to Barry University’s law school to pay $50,000 in unauthorized personal expenses, the Orlando Sentinel reports. Credit card charges at issue included payments for drinks at Hooters, meals with friends and utility bills.

An arrest affidavit says authorities were told LaTorre used the American Express corporate card excessively and made unauthorized transactions on it between February 2014 and June 2015.

Above the Law apparently broke the story and says LaTorre began working at the law school in January 2014.

The law school has its headquarters in Miami Shores and operates an Orlando campus. When contacted by ATL and the newspaper, Barry University officials declined to comment except to say that LaTorre no longer is employed there.

“The university continues to work with law enforcement on an active investigation, therefore we cannot comment any further,” Barry said in a written statement.
