Already facing a Massachusetts first-degree murder case in the 2013 slaying of a semi-pro football player and friend, former New England Patriots star Aaron Hernandez has now been indicted for first-degree murder in two additional slayings.

He is accused of playing a role in the 2012 fatal drive-by shootings of two men, after what authorities describe as a chance encounter at a Boston nightclub. Hernandez allegedly followed them in his vehicle as they drove away, then pulled up alongside as they were stopped at a traffic light and fired a .38-caliber pistol multiple times, according to the Boston Globe and the Hartford Courant.

Suffolk District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said Hernandez apparently did not know the two victims, Daniel Abreu and Safiro Furtado.

He has pleaded not guilty in the earlier murder case concerning the 2013 death of Odin L. Lloyd, and is being held without bond.

The Boston Herald also has a story.
