Former SG Helps eHarmony Reach Settlement Calling for Gay Matches

The online dating service eHarmony will launch an online matchmaking option for gays called Compatible Partners as a result of a settlement with the New Jersey Attorney General.

Former solicitor general Ted Olson, now a partner at Gibson Dunn & Crutcher, represented eHarmony, according to a press release. The agreement settles a 2005 complaint filed with the state by New Jersey resident Eric McKinley, the Wall Street Journal Law Blog reports. McKinley will get a free one-year membership with the new service, according to a press release by the state attorney general.

EHarmony does not admit liability in the settlement. It had been accused of violating the state’s Law Against Discrimination.
