Rutgers University’s interim senior vice president and general counsel has negotiated an exit deal that includes cash and free football tickets.

John Wolf will be paid nearly $420,000, representing 18 months of his salary, and will get tickets for next season’s Scarlet Knights football games, the New Jersey Star Ledger reports. He was pressured to quit for his role in advising the university’s president not to fire basketball coach Mike Rice after a video showed the coach pushing and yelling insults at players.

The university has also agreed to cover Wolf for any litigation liability, the story says. Wolf is being replaced on an interim basis by Rutgers at Newark law dean John Farmer Jr.

Rutgers athletic director Tim Pernetti is being paid $1.2 million for his resignation, the Star Ledger says.
