It’s the first Friday of November, and that means it’s Love Your Lawyer Day.

In fact, it’s National, International and Global Love Your Lawyer Day, according to the group promoting the day, the American Lawyers Public Image Association.

How to celebrate? Don’t tell lawyer jokes, according to the association. Or contact a lawyer and tell that person of your appreciation, according to a Love Your Lawyer Day website. “If you really want to show your love,” the website says, “send out a gift basket or card and tell them how much they mean to you.”

Other possibilities are making a donation to charity in a lawyer’s name or taking a lawyer to lunch.

Legal marketer Nader Anise founded the day to highlight the good things that lawyers do. Anise tells the ABA Journal in an email that he hopes people celebrating Love Your Lawyer Day will be “slamming social media hard all day” with the hashtag #LoveYourLawyerDay.

“We’re looking for the most festive pics this year—people celebrating in a fun, funny or interesting way,” Anise says.

On Thursday, several state bar associations were posting with the hashtag. Posted videos included clips from “My Cousin Vinny” and “A Few Good Men.”
