Fulbright & Jaworski has opened an office in Pittsburgh, raiding K&L Gates for a six-lawyer energy team to do so, reports the Houston Business Journal.

Led by Ken Komorski, who will head the new office, the group focuses its practice on activity in the Marcellus Shale area of the Appalachian basin.

“The strength of our relationships with major oil and gas producers, pipelines and processing plants has allowed us to work on legal issues involving the major shale plays across the United States in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, North Dakota and Montana,” says Michael Irvin, who is in charge of the firm’s global energy department, in a Fulbright press release. “The addition of Ken and his team in this key region allows us to grow to our strengths while assisting our clients in providing top-quality legal advice related to shale formations in the U.S. and abroad.”

The managing partner of K&L Gates declined to comment.

Founded in Houston, Texas, in 1919, Fulbright & Jaworski now has approximately 900 attorneys in 17 offices in the United States and internationally.
