After working for a little less than a year as the top lawyer for Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, general counsel Roosevelt Hairston Jr. was terminated last month.

In a written statement, the hospital cited “an internal investigation that found evidence of financial irregularities,” reports the Legal Intelligencer in an article reprinted in New York Lawyer (reg. req.).

Hairston’s lawyer, Jeffrey Lindy, confirmed the firing but had little to add. “It’s difficult for me to comment at this time because we are at such an early stage,” he told the legal publication.

Hairston reportedly was earning $720,000 annually in 2009, the last year for which the nonprofit hospital has made a financial filing. At that time, he was a senior vice president for governmental affairs.

He has been at CHOP since 1997.
