A controversial billboard put up by a small matrimonial law firm in Chicago has been removed, a week after it went up, allegedly because it lacked a proper permit. Featuring a scantily clad man and woman – and the line “Life’s Short. Get a Divorce.” – it raised eyebrows, and the profile of Fetman, Garland & Associates, before incurring the ire of 42nd Ward Alderman Burton Natarus.

He determined the billboard in the glitzy Gold Coast neighborhood known for its upscale bars lacked a proper permit and city took it down, reports AP, in a story that made nationwide news.

The two partners at the firm say their billboard was taken down without due process, and that even those who disliked it should worry about the way free speech rights have been trampled by its removal.
