Girlfriend charged with shooting retired judge
The girlfriend of a retired Texas judge has been charged with shooting him at his Corpus Christi home earlier this week.
Jack Hunter, 70, who regularly heard cases as a visiting judge prior to the shooting, is hospitalized under guard after being shot in the face, the Corpus Christi Caller-Times reports.
Suspect Trisha Bos, 41, his girlfriend, was arrested Thursday on suspicion of attempted murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and injury to the elderly.
She initially told authorities that Hunter had shot himself, according to another Corpus Christi Caller-Times article and KRIS. However, police said Hunter can be heard denying that he shot himself during a recorded 911 call.
He told police he went to sleep with a pistol on his nightstand, then awakened to find that he had been shot.
Bos is being held in lieu of $500,000 bond, the Associated Press reports. Court records do not list an attorney to speak on her behalf.
