Giuliani Prays ‘Like a Lawyer’

A Republican candidate for president says he prays like a lawyer.

Rudy Giuliani made the comment in an appearance in Iowa last month, the Associated Press reports.

“I believe in God,'' Giuliani said. ''I pray and ask him for help. I pray like a lawyer. I try to make a deal—get me out of this jam, and I'll start going back to church.''

what you do not hear about Rudy!
He left the city a financial disaster- and much more in debt than when he started.
He lost or had the city lawyers argue at least 23 first amendment cases and lost 22 of the 23.
He hired outside counsel on some to pay off political debts and had them paid with city funds.
His town hall meetings were not spontaneous, and questions were submitted on cards and pre-screened by his staff.
He appointed 7 of the 8 members of the conflicts of interest board, and they protected him.
rather than noting many of his mistakes, errors and abuses, it appears he is once more a darling of the press.
He appointed commissioners who suggested that workers violate the law - or bend it out of shape..

At least he prays.

I also pray like a lawyer, but it has nothing to do with making deals.  It has to do with not giving up, even when your ‘client’ doesn’t deserve what you’re praying for.

Have a Good Shabbos.

What I want to know is whether he ever kept his part of the bargain when his prayers were answered.

Thousands of New Yorkers were voluntarily arrested and detained in jail for many hours while Mr. Guilliani was mayor.  Most of us had never been arrested before and were otherwise law-abiding citizens.  But we were so frustrated as to how he ran the city and the ugly bigotry he perpetuated within the city, we felt there was no other way to call attention to it.  He is rumored to have whitewashed habitually and to control his staff so tightly that he would tell them where they could and could not eat—depending on whether reporters frequented a particular establishment.  This is not a man of the people.
