‘Green’ Industry: Environmental Law

For those seeking a "green" career, law practice offers an increasing number of opportunities.

In a list of 10 industries with "great green potential," the current issue of E magazine ranks as No. 5 the field of environmental law. (Other fields, such as land use and planning, which is also on the list, obviously offer career options for lawyers, too.)

Meanwhile, a well-known West Coast business law firm is also seeing green opportunities. Portland, Ore.-based Tonkon Torp has just launched a Sustainability Law Blog to cater to clients who "aim to create a sustainable future for their organizations, their communities and the environment," a press release announces.

Posts by lawyers in the firm's sustainability practice group discuss a broad range of related topics.

"While the blogosphere is growing daily," says partner David Copley Forman, the practice group's co-chair, "we've found few sites focused primarily on legal issues that business owners should consider when launching or operating sustainable organizations."
