A number of attorneys in South Jersey are tightening their belts. But law firms with thriving bankruptcy practices are booming, according to the Press of Atlantic City.

Partner Douglas S. Stanger of Flaster Greenberg tells the newspaper.that his firm's bankruptcy group has nearly doubled over the past four years.

Flaster Greenberg's website says there are 10 attorneys in the practice group in its Delaware, New Jersey and Pennsylvania offices. Seven are partners.

Although the recession is officially over, layoffs and foreclosures continue to create problems for consumers and lenders. So, like grocers, thrift stores and other providers of affordable necessities, bankruptcy lawyers are busy, the newspaper reports. Collection lawyers are also in demand.
