Back in 2009, New Yorker Todd J. Remis—who married Milena Grzibovska in 2003 and whose divorce from her was final in 2010—sued the photography studio that shot his wedding because he was unhappy with the photographs and the fact that studio failed to take photos of his bride tossing the bouquet or the couple’s final dance of the evening.

The suit seeks $48,000 from H & H Photographers to allow him to re-create the wedding, fly principal participants to New York, and pay a different photographer to shoot it, the New York Times reports.

Remis was an equity research analyst when he signed the contract with H & H in 2003, according to the Times, but testified in a deposition that he hasn’t worked since 2008; he and Grzibovska also separated around 2008. Grzibovska is believed to have moved back to Latvia.

Judge Doris Ling-Cohan in Manhattan State Supreme Court dismissed most of the grounds for the lawsuit but let the case proceed to determine whether there was in fact a breach of contract.

The Times notes that Remis’ father, Shepard M. Remis, is a litigation partner at Goodwin Procter and that Remis’ lawyer—who Remis testified that he is paying for himself—is also from Goodwin Procter.

The owners of the photo studio say they have already spent more than $48,000 defending against Remis’ litigation.
