A growing New York-based boutique that focuses much of its practice on representing members of the military and federal employees has opened its first office west of the Mississippi River.

The new Tully Rinckey office is located in San Diego. It is headed by longtime litigator Steven Herrick, who earned his law degree from the University of California-Berkeley, according to the Albany Business Review.

“Federal employees and service members across the country are hurting as the federal government struggles with ever-tightening budget constraints,” said Herrick in a law firm press release. “Due to the high concentration of these individuals in California, the pain is especially acute in the state. Their rights are under attack, and Tully Rinckey is stepping in to defend them.”

The firm has nearly 60 attorneys listed on its website. In addition to its new California outpost, it has offices in Albany, Buffalo, New York City, Rochester and Syracuse, New York.; Arlington, Virginia.; and Washington, D.C.
