Angry over the property settlement in his divorce case three years ago, a bank guard shot and killed three judges in a different court in China today as they met to discuss a case.

Zhu Jun, 46, also wounded three other court workers before killing himself, reports Agence France-Presse.

However, an Economic Observer article reports that two judges and a court worker were the three individuals killed just before 10 a.m. today at Lingling District People’s Court in Yongzhou city in China’s central Hunan province.

Relying on information from unidentified sources of Sanxiang Metropolis Daily, the article says chief presiding judge Zhao Hulin, deputy chief judge Jiang Qidong and court clerk Huang Lan were killed. Additional court workers were injured.

They were reportedly shot by a man who carried a black travel bag into Zhao Hulin’s office at the court.

Such killings under any circumstances are rare in China, because the country bans private gun ownership. But some bank security workers are armed, the AFP article notes.

Zhu Jun was armed with a machine gun and two pistols, the article says.
