Harvard, Northwestern help Qatar open law school that will award a JD degree
With help from two venerable U.S. law schools, a Middle Eastern university is creating the region’s first juris doctor degree program.
Hamad bin Khalifa University in Doha, Qatar, will open its doors this fall to students pursuing JD degrees, with a law professor from Northwestern University School of Law at the helm, reports the National Law Journal (sub. req);
“I think what they saw, as the value-added of a postgraduate JD program, is the ability to do much more transnational law and train the next generation of leaders,” law dean Daniel Rodriguez told the legal publication.
Harvard Law School has also helped the Qatar institution get off the ground.
