Is there a Nightmare on Foley Square movie in the works? The New York courthouse may not be haunted, but paranormal societies and ghost trackers believe ghosts could have taken up residence in several others.

The blog Court-O-Rama found the tales of the paranormal through a Google search. It found reports of hauntings in these courthouses:

• Florence, Ariz., where a paranormal society rated the Second Pinal County courthouse a 3 on a 1-to-5 scale for ghosts (with 5 meaning it’s time to call Ghostbusters). An infrared camera posted in a locked room on the second floor reveals shadows and a dark object darting through the door, according to the Phantoms and Monsters blog. Other cameras captured white and blue orbs, and ghost trackers heard unexplained sounds.

• Porter, Ind. A ghost tracker has assessed the evidence on a haunting, and “would lean toward” a yes, a 2005 news story says.

• Baltimore, where former Justice Roger Taney may be haunting a circular courtroom, according to a blogger’s account.

• Corrales, N.J., where a former courthouse is said to be haunted by an elderly bald man with a handlebar mustache and suspenders.

• Lincolnton, N.C., where a courthouse camera captured a “ghostly” image of a woman writing on a notepad, according to a 2006 story on WCNC.com.
