The case of a former Texas justice of the peace accused of enlisting his wife to help him murder two prosecutors has provided the plot for an upcoming HBO television movie.

Eric Williams was convicted last year of killing the wife of the Kaufman County district attorney and got the death penalty. However, Williams still awaits trial in two other capital murder cases over the slayings of DA Mike McClellan and his top assistant, Mark Hasse. Williams’ estranged wife is also charged with capital murder.

The development team for the HBO TV movie, Preserve, Protect, and Defend, includes the creators of Big Love, the Hollywood Reporter says.

The TV movie will focus on Williams’ alleged effort to revenge himself against McLelland and Hasse, who prosecuted him for stealing government computer equipment. As a result of his conviction in that case, Williams lost his justice of the peace job and his law license.
