A Chicago-based national law firm has acquired both a small law firm in Rockford, Ill., and the cross-disciplinary legal and business consulting firm they built.

Hinshaw & Culbertson will combine the Buckley Cos. into its newly formed consulting subsidiary, which it plans to market throughout the country, the Rockford Register Star reports.

Founders Paul Nicolosi and Gino Galluzzo, who are the managing partners of an affiliated law firm, Nicolosi & Associates in Rockford, will now become partners at Hinshaw & Culbertson.

“After being independent for decades, this was a big decision for us both,” said the two in an email to clients. “In deciding to make the move, however, we concluded that our growing client needs would be best served by providing a greater level of resources that can only come from a well-run national firm like Hinshaw.”

A Hinshaw press release provides further details.

The Hinshaw firm has approximately 500 lawyers in 24 offices in 12 states, according to its website. It was founded in 1934.
