Ropes & Gray plans to hire from its current summer class “according to the usual standards and in the same numbers as in the past,” but those hires will start work “no earlier” than 2011.

A Ropes & Gray internal memo published by Above the Law says that the firm is encouraging current summer associates to look into pursuing a clerkship or a public interest fellowship in the interim. Ropes & Gray’s hires from the class of 2009 will start in January 2010, according to an earlier post on Above the Law.
