Milwaukee-based Quarles & Brady has signed a lease to occupy three stories of soon-to-be built Chicago skyscraper, indicating the firm will substantially increase the size of its presence in the Windy City.

The firm’s 50 Chicago lawyers currently are housed at the Citigroup Center in 58,000 square feet of office space. The new spot, at 300 N. LaSalle, will offer 75,000 square feet, Crain’s Chicago Business reports.

Quarles Chairman John Daniels Jr. told Crain’s that his firm intends to double the number of lawyers in Chicago within the next five years.

“With the move into this new building, Quarles & Brady gains an office identity that reflects our increased Chicago presence and accommodates our future growth plans in this important market,” Daniels says in a statement (PDF).

Quarles first entered the Chicago market in 1999 when it acquired the 28-lawyer firm Wilson & McIlvaine.

The new building also will house anchor tenant Kirkland & Ellis.
