Prosecutors under fire for flashing gang signs in holiday photo
Defense lawyers in New York aren’t ho-hoing over a year-old photo that recently surfaced of prosecutors in the Bronx district attorney’s office.
It shows a group of assistant district attorneys in business suits and ties flashing gang signs associated with the Bloods, the Crips and the Trinitarios, while standing in front of a green and silver holiday garland, reports the New York Daily News. A copy of the photo is published along with the article.
A spokeswoman for the DA’s office said no one has been disciplined over the silly stunt, and told the newspaper, “From what I understand, the signs aren’t even real.”
However, unidentified defense lawyers disputed that and told the Daily News they didn’t find the photo amusing.
“Every single one of those DAs is a good guy,” said one defense lawyer. “But it’s kind of a jerky photo. It’s a stupid photo because these are representatives of the government, and the gang problem is a very serious problem.”
