Eric Holder promised “a break with the immediate past” as he was sworn in today as attorney general.

Holder said Justice Department employees would be working in an environment where “there shall be no place for political favoritism. No reasons to be timid,” the Washington Post reports. The story points out that Holder is the first African-American attorney general.

Speaking to reporters after the ceremony, Holder said the Justice Department would prosecute Wall Street wrongdoing but he was not planning any “witch hunts,” Reuters reports.

“We’re not going to go out on any witch hunts. But yet, we’ll drill down and see … to the extent that what this nation is facing is a result of fraud or misconduct, we’ll find it and hold people accountable,” he said.
