Holland & Knight’s Women Lawyers Buy Kitchen Gadgets, Benefit Charity

Women lawyers at Holland & Knight bought bundt pans and mixing bowls while mingling with clients last night at their annual women’s initiative outing in Manhattan.

The cocktail party was held at the discounted cooking store Broadway Panhandler to benefit Women in Need, a group that runs women’s homeless shelters, the Am Law Daily reports.

The story interprets the location choice as a sign that “Sex and the City-themed female bonding events are on the way out.” Last year’s event was held at Sephora, described in the story as a “cosmetics temple that sells a dizzying array of makeup and potions for almost every part of the human body.”

It is a DIFFERENT “H & K.”  I had a similar confusion with ORRICK, but a colleague explaned they AREN’T the ones with the VACUUM SWEEPERS.

sounds like the kind of hokey thing H & K would come up with.

A fancy schmancy tupperware party!  While executive women still make most of the decisions about household management including meal planning and preparation, this event is a bit outdated. However, I am sure if a local Gentlemen’s Club had a fund raiser for a social service agency it would be extremely well attended and much more money would have been raised.  I can’t help to think that the attorneys attending that event would also have had more fun. All in all, it was for a good cause and that is what is important.
