An Anchorage, Alaska, mom convicted of misdemeanor child abuse for punishing her adopted son with hot sauce won’t have to go to jail.

Jessica Beagley was sentenced on Monday to three years of probation and ordered to continue attending counseling sessions, the Anchorage Daily News reports. She received a suspended sentence of 180 days in jail and a suspended $2,500 fine.

Beagley was prosecuted after she sent a video of her discipline to the Dr. Phil show. She had claimed she was seeking help because the 7-year-old boy, adopted in 2008 from a Russian orphanage, had behavioral problems. Prosecutors had claimed she abused her son with hot sauce and a cold shower to get on TV.
