Serving three weeks in jail for probation violation has changed her, making her more religious and encouraging her to turn over a new leaf after her release yesterday, Paris Hilton says.

In her first published comments since she was released from a Los Angeles jail yesterday, the hotel heiress, after having her hair extensions replaced, told People magazine “I’m a good person. I’m a compassionate person. I have a big heart. I’m sincere, and they’ll see.” She is expected to say more when interviewed by television talk show host Larry King tonight.

Hilton also told the magazine that her controversial early release from jail–for only a few days, it turned out–was prompted by an emotional breakdown. “I was basically in the fetal position, basically in hysterics … and having severe anxiety and panic attacks.”

Meanwhile, in an effort to compete with People’s exclusive, “Us” magazine promises on its cover to be “100% Paris Free!” reports AP. “I don’t think we even mention the city of Paris,” jokes editor Janice Min.
