Houston Law Center Tops in Unusual Ranking

Some law schools manage to acquire a better reputation than the universities with which they are associated.

TaxProf Blog, written by Paul Caron of the University of Cincinnati College of Law, has pondered that thought. He has created a list of the law schools whose rankings show the greatest positive variance from that of their parent universities. The rankings come from U.S. News & World Report.

The law schools that came out on top were Houston, followed by Georgia State, Toledo, George Mason and Nevada at Las Vegas. The same universities were in the top five, but in a different order, when he looked at the disparity by percentiles rather than absolute rank.
