News of a steady stream of Howrey partner departures has observers wondering how long the law firm will continue to operate.

Legal Week provides an answer: The process will begin next week, when Howrey partners are set to vote on winding down the law firm.

After the vote, Howrey will begin discussing the future of associates and support staffers with Winston & Strawn, which is hiring about 35 percent of Howrey’s remaining partners, the publication says. Winston originally offered jobs to about 75 percent of Howrey’s partnership.

Many of the lawyers who have agreed to make the jump to Winston are from Howrey offices in Houston and Washington, D.C., the story says.
