Retired Ohio judge James Kimbler plans to spend more time making dinner these days, now that he no longer has to spend his days adjudicating cases.

That makes a lot of sense, since his wife, Joyce Kimbler, has taken his seat on the Medina Common Pleas Court bench.

Elected in November and sworn in early this month by her husband, who praised her fairness, integrity and work ethic, the new Judge Kimbler said the now-retired Judge Kimbler would be a hard act to follow. She also thanked him for “the parity in our relationship for the last 19 years and for bringing out the best in me,” the Sun News reports.

The two met during a mock trial competition.
