Updated: Authorities say a Texas juvenile court judge in Rowlett was killed by her husband yesterday in an apparent murder-suicide.

Judge Belinda Loveland, 52, was found dead in her Lake Ray Hubbard home, along with her husband, Richard, 59, reports the Dallas Morning News.

The Rowlett Police Department says Richard Loveland seems to have shot his wife and then committed suicide.

Police found the bodies after the couple’s son, a doctor in Galveston, called 911 to report an upsetting text message from his father a little after 5 p.m. It read: “I don’t know how to tell you this, but I think I just killed your mother.”

Dustin Loveland later said his father had been suffering from depression and may have snapped, as detailed in a subsequent ABAJournal.com post.

To him and other observers, however, his parents seemed to have been happily together after 28 years of marriage.
