Ice Miller and Greenebaum Doll End Merger Talks

Nine months of talks have reportedly failed to produce a merger between Ice Miller and Greenebaum Doll & McDonald.

A source tells Business First in Louisville that the merger is not going forward, in part because of concerns at the 180-lawyer Greenebaum that the merger would require increased billing rates. Ice Miller is the bigger law firm with 258 lawyers.

Sources told the Indiana Business Journal that another problem concerned differences in partner compensation.

Greenebaum Doll has several offices in Kentucky, as well as offices in Cincinnati and Nashville, Tenn. Ice Miller is headquartered in Indianapolis, and also has offices in the Chicago area and Washington, D.C.
