The Indiana Institute of Technology announced on Tuesday that its new law school, set to open in 2013, will be built at its current Fort Wayne campus.

School officials said they considered three downtown locations, but one became condominiums, the second became an arts center, and the third could not be converted to workable space, report the National Law Journal and the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette.

The law school’s future dean, Peter Alexander, said the campus location offers the chance for collaboration between the law school and other departments, according to the NLJ account. “I also see the law students being able to take courses in the MBA program and in other graduate programs that will count toward degree completion in the law school,” he said.

Officials plan to admit 100 students in the law school’s first class. The school will emphasize practical skills.
