Jeffrey Lovelady may have thought he was being courteous and helpful by allegedly giving a man at the wheel of a pickup a go-ahead signal to make a left turn in an industrial area of Portland, Oregon, last year. But now he is facing a big-bucks accident suit.

Struck by the turning pickup in November 2014 as she was riding her bicycle in the same direction as Lovelady, Cynthia Lewellen says she suffered injuries including a shattered pelvis, four broken ribs, multiple other fractures, a punctured lung and a concussion. She filed suit Wednesday against both Lovelady, who, she says, gave the pickup an OK signal to make the turn, and the pickup driver, Juan Carlos Garcia, the Oregonian reports.

Lewellyn is seeking $670,000 in the Multnomah County Circuit Court case.

Also named as defendants are two companies because both men were driving for their respective employers at the time of the crash, the suit says. The defendants either could not be immediately reached to comment or declined to comment.
