IRS Seeks to Sell Home of Ex-Attorney Who Stole $500K From Deceased Lawyer's Disabled Daughter
Seeking to satisfy a tax debt of over $300,000 owed by a former New Hampshire lawyer who stole over $1 million from clients, the Internal Revenue Service is planning to sell James Hobbs’ home.
Authorities say Hobbs, 52, apparently spent most or all of the money on personal expenses, reports the Telegraph. He is serving a 10- to 20-year term in prison for forgery, perjury and theft.
More than half of the $1 million reportedly came from the estate of a deceased attorney who expected the money to be used to care for his disabled daughter.
