Jodi Arias juror is dismissed after asking a reporter this question
A juror in the sentencing retrial of Jodi Arias was dismissed on Wednesday after approaching a journalist and asking whether she is Nancy Grace, who hosts a legal show on CNN.
The juror was the second to be dismissed in the Maricopa County, Arizona, sentencing retrial, report the Arizona Republic and USA Today. The first juror was dismissed because of family issues.
Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty for Arias, who was convicted of first-degree murder for killing her boyfriend, Travis Alexander, at his Phoenix home. He was stabbed 29 times, shot in the face and had his neck slashed. Jurors deadlocked in the first penalty trial.
Arias’ lawyer, Kirk Nurmi, told jurors on Tuesday that Arias had an abusive childhood and developed a personality disorder, CNN reports. He also said Alexander emotionally abused Arias.
