A judge in Michigan has dismissed a lawsuit brought by paralegal Cheryl Gray, who claimed she was dumped and defamed by a Seattle man she met on Facebook.

The 50-year-old Livonia woman, who represented herself in court, wanted to recoup more than $8,000 for gifts she bought for Wylie Iwan, a man she met while playing the Facebook game Mafia Wars, WXYZ ABC News reported.

She’d claimed Iwan led her on, dumped her right before they were to meet in person, then bashed her publicly on Facebook. Iwan, who hired a lawyer in Michigan to represent him but didn’t show up for the hearing, has said he didn’t do anything wrong and that Gray made too much out of a simple online relationship.

On Monday, a judge ruled that Michigan doesn’t have jurisdiction over the suit. Gray plans to appeal.
